Buying, leasing to or insuring a bar or restaurant? A dated license and receipts report ($19) — or monitoring of a local market.
What this is
The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission publishes every license and permit it issues, and the Texas Comptroller publishes the mixed beverage receipts that bars, restaurants, hotels and clubs report each month. Both are open data with a search form. This site joins them and gives every establishment a record you can find and read: its license, its status and dates, the owner's other licenses, and its receipts month by month since 2007.
Who uses it
- Buyers and brokers of bars and restaurants — the license and the reported receipts before a deal.
- Landlords, lenders and insurers — whether a tenant's license is active, and what it reports.
- Suppliers and distributors — who holds which permit, and where.
What it is not
Not the TABC, not the Comptroller, and not a list of server certifications. Receipts are what the holder reported, not an audit. How to read the records.
